If you look at the PE exam website for CA, this is specifically mentioned that it is allowed. I quote, "Published reference materials entitled, "120 Solved Surveying Problems" for the California Special Civil Engineers Examination (CSSP) and "Civil Surveying Samples Examinations" for the California Special Engineering Surveying Examination (CSSE2) will be allowed." I used this book and thought it was very helpful. I passed the surveying exam on the first try using this book.
